Go Outside and Play! Ideas for Healthier Kids with CLIF Kid

Image
Do you ever feel like you are running a marathon from the moment your kids step off the bus until their heads hit the pillow?  A lot of days in our house do feel like that as we run from Cub Scouts, to fall sports, piano lessons, and other evening activities. As busy as our days can be, we always leave room for outdoor play. Play helps my kids decompress from their school day as well as providing exercise and social development with friends. My kids are pretty exhausted when they get home from school. I encourage them to grab water and a healthy snack to refuel and head outside for at least an hour. CLIF Kid makes the perfect on the go snack for my active kids. CLIF Kid Zbar®  are made with organic ingredients and contain no artificial flavors or high fructose corn syrup. My kids just care that they taste good and come in fun flavors. Goblin Chocolate Chip is the current favorite flavor in our house!  It's so nice when my kids ask, "Can I have one of the those yummy bar...

Modern Rose 90th Birthday Party

Image
The Modern Rose collection is one of my very favorites. It is elegant, timeless, and full of gorgeous colors.  The party items offered in this collection can easily be personalized to fit all types of special events, from birthdays, to weddings and anniversaries. I chose to use the collection for a very special milestone, a 90th birthday. The guest of honor, my 90 year old grandmother, has the most beautiful china pattern called Desert Rose. I immediately thought of her love of roses and her beloved dishes when I stumbled upon the Modern Rose collection.  As you will see, I incorporated personal touches of her favorite things throughout the party such as her love of Nantucket and the ocean, knitting, and traveling. The table outside was set with my Nantucket Basket Wedgwood china,  rose topiaries , and tropical green leaves .  I attached gold mylar number balloons to the back of the guest of honor's chair. A helpful party planning tip is to think outside the b...

NEON Party

Image
W ith today's post, I am celebrating 10 years of Monthly Dinners!  It was 10 years ago, that I hosted my first Monthly Dinner in hopes of seeing and spending time with my closest friends in what I hoped would be an easy night out for them without any cooking, cleaning, or spending money on their part.  Now, here it is 10 years and 120 dinner themes later, and we are still going strong! I can hardly believe it! To celebrate 10 years, I themed my party around the 10th Element on the Periodic Table..NEON!  There are several ideas on the internet for black-light neon parties that look amazing, but I wanted to focus my party mainly on the scientific element and the bright colors instead.  It was a dinner party, so didn't want to have the lights off while we ate or anything.  Here's what I came up with... Invite:   I designed the invite on Photoshop with various images I found online. I kept it simple with bright colors. Decor: I originally made this giant neon ...

Sponsored by Wayfair: A Night Around the Campfire

Image
I have been compensated for this post as a member of the Wayfair Homemaker Program,  all ideas and opinions are completely my own #sponsored  Fall is my very favorite time of the year. Days are still slightly warmer, nights are cooler and require a light jacket. It's the perfect time of year to plan a night around the campfire. Not sure what all you need? Check out the idea board I have put together to help you get started. Start by gathering up your coziest blankets, s'more materials, and camping chairs. Bring some outdoor games such as these  giant yard dice . Kids will love taking turns playing with these. I like to keep my camping menu simple. This  double pie iron  is perfect for creating both sweet and savory campfire treats such as campfire pizza pockets, moon pies filled with cherry or strawberry pie filling. My personal favorite is peanut butter and Nutella mountain pies. So delicious! And of course you will need s'more making materials, but be su...
