Modern Rose 90th Birthday Party



The Modern Rose collection is one of my very favorites. It is elegant, timeless, and full of gorgeous colors.  The party items offered in this collection can easily be personalized to fit all types of special events, from birthdays, to weddings and anniversaries. I chose to use the collection for a very special milestone, a 90th birthday.


The guest of honor, my 90 year old grandmother, has the most beautiful china pattern called Desert Rose. I immediately thought of her love of roses and her beloved dishes when I stumbled upon the Modern Rose collection.  As you will see, I incorporated personal touches of her favorite things throughout the party such as her love of Nantucket and the ocean, knitting, and traveling.



The table outside was set with my Nantucket Basket Wedgwood china, rose topiaries, and tropical green leaves.  I attached gold mylar number balloons to the back of the guest of honor's chair.



A helpful party planning tip is to think outside the box when ordering your party items. Items can be used in so many different ways. For example, I used the Modern Roses square table top-it for my backdrop rather than on my table. I attached the square monogram table top-it to a large piece of foam core board and then attached green floral sheeting on either side. I then used the rest of my floral sheeting as a table runner on the dessert table.


I used these adorable wood place card holders to label all the desserts, like Grandma's apple pie. I tied pink ribbons around each mini apple pie just to add an extra little touch.


I just love these mini candy bar wrappers with the guest of honor's monogram on them! They can be personalized on the front and back.  As the saying goes, love is in the details...


To celebrate the guest of honor's love of "tea time",  I used tea cupcake silicone molds to bake and serve cupcakes! Edible Details created the most unbelievable fondant cupcake toppers for the party.  




Bambella Cookies created beautiful nautical cookies to match the roses and colors of the party. 




To celebrate the guest of honor's love of all things Nantucket we had to have these Nantucket basket lid cookies by Patricia O'Brien & Co.  The detailing on these cookies are just incredible!

vacation time ! ! !

All packed and ready to go. One more day of snow and ice left... before I get to see the sand and the sun again! We only see each other once a year - but ours is a glorious friendship. The sand doesn't mind my uber white body  (the illustration is where the wishful thinking comes in) reading on it. I don't mind it getting into places from which sand might not return:). Girls are also beside themselves with anticipation. We all need some cold and snow free family time.   I'll see you all mid February... hopefully, all full of vitamin D and the will to illustrate tirelessly for the rest of the year.
