How to Throw a Jurassic World Dinosaur Party

After seeing every Jurassic Park movie, my friend's son declared his 8th birthday was going to be full of DINOSAURS! His mom, photographer Alli Duda of A Joy Photography and I worked together to create the most unbelievable birthday party thanks to the fabulous selection of dinosaur party products found at Shindigz. 

We started with a few large standees to set the Jurassic mood with the Tyrannosaurus Rex Large Dinosaur Standee, wild safari grass standees, safari jeep, and these inflatable dinosaur friends. 

Layering the table was the next step. We began with a burlap table cover, then added the standees, grass baskets (nabbed from my bathroom closet!), grass mats, tropical leaves, and kraft paper vines to give the table a lush, tropical feel. The Jurassic banner hanging on the front of the table was the final party decoration needed to complete the look. 

Pith helmets were a huge hit with the kids!  We just added dinosaur stickers on the front of the hats to make them extra festive!

The absolutely incredible cookies created by Julie Jones of School House Bakery were displayed on a bamboo cutting board to continue the look and feel of a tropical jungle setting. 

We used varying sizes of grass baskets as cake stands to display our birthday cake. We dressed up a store bought cake by adding a dinosaur toy as a cake topper. SO simple, yet dramatic. 

There was plenty of food for both the herbivores and the carnivores! We placed cute signs in front of the different food options. Herbivores ate fresh veggies while the carnivores dined on dino-bites (chicken nuggets served on wood skewers with Jurassic World blow outs on top). 

The dining room table was covered with burlap. Each place setting included a personalized dinosaur place mat, dinosaur party cup, water bottle with custom water bottle label, and Jurassic World plates. Pith helmets were displayed as centerpieces on top of grass mats and blue place mats. 

The safari jeep standee doubled as a photo op for party guests.  We can say that everyone (including grandpas) loved driving the jeep!

Another fun little detail, personalized Jurassic Park Ranger buttons for the kids to wear.

Party favors included a personalized dinosaur adventure favor box, dinosaur tattoos, dinosaur plastic toys, and a dinosaur fossil kit.

I included a few easy DIY elements to the party. My favorite DIY craft that creating the jungle number 8 centerpiece. To make this you will need a Styrofoam number green crepe paper, small leaves (I plucked off of a tropical fern lei but you could also cut green leaves out of paper), and tape. Simply wrap the green crepe paper around the number and tape to secure. Tuck small leaves into the crepe paper, no need to secure with tape.

The tree vines found all over the dessert table were also very easy to make.  Just simply cut long pieces of natural kraft paper from the roll and twist. For longer pieces, just twist two sections together to secure. Place as hanging vines from a ceiling or weave vines throughout your table.
